Safety Store

The Nemours Safety Store, located in the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children’s Main Lobby, helps families learn about injury prevention and purchase items necessary to keep their children secure. Whether you have an infant, toddler, tween or teen, you’ll find low-cost items to keep your family safe.

A Safety Store is a children's hospital-based retail center that combines low-cost safety products with injury prevention education for parents of patients and the community. A. I. duPont Hospital for Children is proud to operate a Safety Store on the hospital campus. Examples of products sold are: Bike Helmets, cabinet and drawer latches, door-knob covers, and wall straps. These products are at a lower cost than traditional stores, and come with education from staff regarding the use of these products.

For infants and toddlers, we have a wide range of safety items to keep your little explorer from getting hurt. Our trained educators can show you how to baby proof your home using our safety gates, outlet covers and tub thermometers. Plus, we have car seats for children of all ages.

Once your child is school-aged, they have different needs. They are more active in sports and activities. We can help with that too. We have bike helmets, personal flotation devices (life jackets), ear plugs, and child ID bracelets.

To keep the whole family safe, we also have fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, allergy alert labels and books about safety issues.
