In designing our Expansion, we talked to parents, kids and healthcare providers. Children made a wish list for a home away from home. Parents shared their hopes and dreams. And caregivers told us what they needed to deliver the very best care.
Our multi-phase Expansion anticipates future growth over the coming decades, as we prepare to serve the needs of families in our community today — and children yet to be born. We hope you'll be part of what promises to be a remarkable journey.
With our Expansion, we’re building on a history of more than 70 years of outstanding care for children. We’re continuing the vision of Alfred I. duPont, who saw a future for children free from disabling conditions and whose transformational gift made our hospital possible.
From the soaring five-story atrium at the entrance, to the interactive Discovery Zone, to our "neighborhoods" of patient care, we're creating a hospital like no other. Our new environment is designed to invite engagement, lift the heart and promote healing.
Families value our expertise and our promise to treat their children as our own. We’ve never wavered from this sacred trust—to provide the very best care, to constantly search for answers, to do whatever it takes.

In our planning, we talked to parents and listened to children to find out what they would wish for most in a hospital. We asked our caregivers what would help them continue to deliver the very best care.

These thoughts and ideas helped inspire the design of what will become our new space — an environment to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing of children.

Opening in 2014, we are creating a children's hospital like no other in the region, giving our patients and families the promise of even better days to come.

With the expansion opening in 2014, preview the future Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
