What Does a Child's Joy Look Like to You?

At Nemours, we strive to have a positive impact on the health and joy of each child we meet. Thus, the theme of our 2014 digital photography contest is “Capturing Joy.” Photographs should depict an image representing the photographer’s interpretation of joy in a child, children or family.

This contest is open to all amateur photographers age 18 years and older. Entrants may submit up to three digital photographs. Entries must be received by Aug. 15, 2014.

2014 Capturing Joy Photo Contest Rules

Eligibility

The contest is open to all amateur photographers age 18 years and older who are the parent/legal guardian of the child(ren) whose images appear in the submitted photo (“Entrant”). There are two categories:

  • General Public
  • Nemours Employees

There is no cost to enter the competition.

Nemours reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Nemours will be final.

Format

The theme of the 2014 Capturing Joy Photo Contest is “Capturing Joy.” Photographs should depict an image representing the photographer’s interpretation of joy in a child, children or family. Entries are to be high resolution jpg files that are no less than 1MB in size. Content alteration of digital files is not acceptable; including combining multiple photos. Cropping of photos is permitted, tonal or color corrections are acceptable. Borders, frames, text or other graphic treatments are not permitted. All entries must be submitted online at the contest website: www.nemours.org/photocontest. Be sure to complete and submit the Consent Form with your photo entries. Include the photographer’s name, address, phone, email and other information as required.

Entries and Identification

Nemours will only accept photos of children submitted by the child’s parent or legal guardian. By submission of a photo, you covenant and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) whose image is identifiable in the photo and on behalf of such minor child(ren) that you are consenting to Nemours use of the photo consistent with these 2014 Capturing Joy Photo Contest Rules.

Nemours asks you to keep in mind that photo submissions are intended to be shared in family-friendly forums, so please do not submit any questionable content. Nemours holds the right to disqualify entries with inappropriate content.

Photographs entered must not have been previously published. Entrants must own all rights to the photographs submitted. As such, entrants hold Nemours harmless from any breach of copyright. Photographs that violate or infringe upon another person's copyright are not eligible to participate in this contest.

All participants must complete and submit a Consent Form with your entries.

Deadline

All entries must be received no later than midnight, Aug. 15, 2014. Late photographs will not be accepted. Photographs will not be returned to the Entrant. Winning and honorable mention photographs will be retained and archived by Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Entries which do not fall within the “winning” and “honorable mention” categories will not be acknowledged and will not be retained (i.e., will be deleted).

Judging

Images will be judged on interpretation of the theme, overall impact and artistic merit.

Winning and honorable mention photographs will be announced in September 2014. Reasonable efforts will be made to notify entrants who are judged as winning and honorable mention by email.

Use

First-, second- and third-place winning entries among a) general public and b) Nemours employees (total of six photos) will be framed and displayed in the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children during the grand opening of its expanded facility in September 2014.

A group of honorable mention photos, as well as winning photos, will be selected by the judges for rotation on digital signs throughout the hospital.

Winning and honorable mention photos may also be featured on the Nemours website and appear in Nemours print and electronic publications.

Responsibility

Nemours cannot be held responsible for entries that are lost, damaged or delayed during submission. Nemours is not responsible for any failure of the website during this contest. Nor is it responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any email, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

Copyright Notice

With regard to any photograph submitted to this contest, the entrant, or the owner of copyright in the photograph, retains copyright. By uploading or submitting any photograph to this contest, the entrant grants or warrants that the owner of such materials expressly grants Nemours a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any Nemours purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials, its website, exhibition and commercial products.

Nemours will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
