Collaborating for Kids
Nemours collaborates with Lankenau Medical Center (part of the Main Line Health system) to extend advanced round-the-clock pediatric care to children and families in Wynnewood, Ardmore, Haverford, and the surrounding communities.
Children are different from adults and need specialized care, so Nemours’ neonatal specialists are there for families at Lankenau Medical Center to provide advanced care to premature and high-risk newborns in the hospital’s Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). (Level III means our neonatologists there can offer advanced care for premature, low birth-weight, and critically ill infants born prematurely as young as 28 weeks into the pregnancy.) Working alongside the Lankenau staff, our neonatology team is complemented by the hospital’s highly trained nursing staff, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, respiratory therapists, and social workers.
Nemours and Lankenau also work together to:
- Coordinate care, when needed, with our specialists at Nemours duPont Pediatrics, Newtown Square and Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE
- Facilitate the transfer of extremely ill patients to duPont Hospital for Children
