Pediatric Surgeons Receive Board Certification

Stephen KimmelStephen Kimmel, MD and Fawn Lewis, MD, pediatric surgeons at Nemours Children’s Clinic Pensacola recently received their board certification in the specialty of pediatric surgery. Both Kimmel and Lewis joined Nemours in August 2004 and are board certified in general surgery.

Stephen Kimmel, MD, received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. General Surgery residency training was completed at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center followed by a Research Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Kimmel’s subspecialty training also included a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the Schneider Childrens Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. His interests include the treatment of newborn malformations, advanced minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, and the treatment of congenital anorectal malformations.Fawn Lewis

Fawn Lewis, MD, received her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, she went on to complete her surgery residency training at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Lewis also completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with the Center for Bioenvironmental Astrobiology, Department of Nephrology at the Tulane School of Medicine; an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Fellowship and Pediatric Surgery Critical Care Fellowship with the Children’s Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University; and a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship with the British Columbia Childrens Hospital in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
