KidsHealth.org Puts A Jargon-Free Spin On The Avian Flu.

With many parents worrying about avian flu and how it may affect their families, KidsHealth.org, the most-visited website devoted to children’s health and parenting, has launched a mini-movie to address these concerns.

Clearly and concisely, and using language that parents, kids, and teens can understand, “Inside the Avian Flu” answers the questions: What is the avian flu? Why are people worried about it? What can families do?

QUICK FACT: Each month more than 50,000 online visitors view KidsHealth’s mini-movies to learn about their health.

Avian Flu VideoKidsHealth.org reminds parents that even though there is no immediate threat to humans from the bird flu, families can help prevent the spread of viruses by:

  • washing hands regularly, particularly after eating, sneezing, or using the bathroom
  • getting regular medical check-ups and keeping flu shots and immunizations up to date
  • taking proper food safety precautions (never eat undercooked or uncooked poultry, and wash kitchen surfaces where raw meat has been handled)

And, of course, if you have questions about the flu or any other illness, talk to your doctor.
