Nemours, one of the nation’s largest children’s health systems, is pleased to announce that Tim Wysocki, PhD, ABPP, Director of the Center for Pediatric Psychology Research at Nemours will receive the Logan Wright Distinguished Research Award from the Society of Pediatric Psychology, a division of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Wysocki will receive the award at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association in New Orleans, LA, on August 11, 2006. He was selected for the award based on his research studies on psychological adaptation of children, adolescents and their families to childhood diabetes. He has been awarded numerous federal and other grants to support his research over the past 20 years.
“This award is truly a remarkable honor, especially when you consider the accomplishments of those who have received it previously,” said Wysocki. “But, I wouldnt be receiving it if not for a group of immensely skilled and dedicated colleagues who have been involved every step of the way in these studies. ”
The Logan Wright Distinguished Research Award recognizes excellence and significant contributions in establishing the scientific base of pediatric psychology. The quality of clinical research conducted by pediatric psychologists will be an increasingly important factor affecting health care policy and funding decisions in the coming years. Being nominated for this award represents recognition of scholarly contributions by one’s peers. Recipients are productive clinical researchers in the field of pediatric psychology whose work is regarded by their peers as exemplary and important.
“Dr. Wysocki’s selection is testament to his dedication to research in pediatric psychology. He is nationally recognized for his research in the family management of type I diabetes, having secured millions of dollars in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding during his entire tenure with Nemours. We are very proud that Dr. Wysocki has been named as this year’s award recipient,” said Vicky Funanage, PhD, Director of Nemours Biomedical Research. “Dr. Wysocki’s success with NIH funding has contributed to Nemours being among the top 20 of childrens hospitals with NIH funding during the past six years.”
