Nemours, one of the nations largest children's health systems, is proud to announce that it ranked 11th in the American Society for Training & Developments 2006 BEST Awards Program. Nemours is among 40 organizations from India, South Africa, and the United States to receive an ASTD BEST Award. All winners are recognized in a special section of the October 2006 issue of Training + Development (T+D), ASTD’s monthly print magazine.
Nemours received the ASTD BEST Award during a reception held in Washington, D.C. on October 4. The following day, some of the winning organizations gave presentations about their learning and development practices during the “Learn from the BEST” professional development event.
“Nemours is honored to be recognized for this award. The ASTD Award means that at Nemours we embrace our core values and execute our strategic objectives,” said Gina Altieri, Vice-President of Nemours Corporate Services. “By investing in our people, we enable them to be a highly skilled and productive workforce.”
The ASTD BEST Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success through employee learning and development. According to Tony Bingham, ASTDs president and CEO, “The winners set the standard of excellence for exceptional practices learning, and demonstrate that a skilled workforce is vital to achieving results.” Bingham continues, “The 2006 ASTD BEST Award winners use learning as a strategic tool and have the support of senior leaders who champion a learning culture.”
Through an online survey, the 2006 BEST Awards welcomed applications from 78 organizations in seven countries. These organizations submitted quantitative and qualitative information to ASTD about their learning and development practices and programs. Their applications were assessed by members of the BEST Awards advisory committee, a group of experts in the learning and performance field.
More information about the 2006 ASTD BEST Award winners may be found in the October 2006 issue of T+D magazine. Details about the 2007 ASTD BEST Awards program will be available next spring.
