Nemours has signed a contract to purchase an approximately 118-acre parcel of land in the Lake Nona area on Boggy Creek Road, south of State Road 417.
The site is within immediate proximity of the Burnham Medical Research Institute, UCF Burnett College of Medicine and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital. Securing this property brings us one step closer to realizing the creation of an integrated pediatric health care system in Central Florida.
This particular location was selected because it provides the appropriate size, space and location for the non-profit enterprise’s comprehensive mission, while allowing the organizational control necessary to fulfill obligations outlined in the State of Florida’s CON application.
“Since we announced the decision to relocate the Nemours pediatric campus to Lake Nona, the leadership of Nemours has spent many months in judicious consideration of numerous land options. This property offered the best value for our mission. As responsible stewards of resources that have been allocated for the care of children, we have an obligation to invest wisely in order to fulfill the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy plans for the benefit of the community’s children,” said Nemours Florida Chief Administrative Officer Jeff Green.
Several major roadways that include State Road 528 and State Road 417, will provide optimal access for patients trying to reach the new facility. Nemours remains committed to working with all transportation agencies, planning organizations and government departments to ensure that patients of every economic background can reach the site in the most effective way possible.

About Nemours
Nemours, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems, is dedicated to achieving higher standards in children’s health. Nemours offers an integrated spectrum of clinical treatment coupled with research, advocacy, and educational health and prevention services extending to all families in the communities it serves. Starting with Alfred I. duPont’s bequest over seventy years ago, Nemours has grown into a multi-dimensional organization offering personalized clinical and preventive care focused on children.
Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware and major children’s specialty clinics in Delaware (Wilmington), Florida (Jacksonville, Orlando and Pensacola), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr) and New Jersey (Atlantic City and Voorhees). Having recently received preliminary approval from the State of Florida, Nemours will establish a new full-service children’s hospital as part of an integrated pediatric health campus in Orlando. KidsHealth.org, the world’s most visited pediatric health care Web site for parents, kids and teens, is a project of Nemours.
Nemours employs over 4,400 individuals, including 430 pediatric physicians, specialists and surgeons who cared for approximately a quarter of a million children in 2007. The organization’s goal is to align with parents, physicians, community leaders, children’s advocates and elected officials to ensure optimal wellness for every child.
