ORLANDO, FL - Nemours has entered into an agreement with Tavistock/Lake Nona Property Holdings, LLC, for the purchase of 60 acres of land. The parcel is located within the proposed medical city of Lake Nona and will serve as the site for an integrated pediatric health campus, to include the Nemours Orlando Children’s Hospital and children’s outpatient clinic. This will position Nemours’ campus in close proximity to the UCF College of Medicine, Burnham Institute and new Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

“We are thrilled to have Nemours back in the medical city giving greater strength to the region’s new economy,” cites Rasesh Thakkar, senior managing director of the Tavistock Group. “The close collaboration between Nemours, Lake Nona and other outstanding partners already within the medical city will yield many wonderful benefits.”

"There are compelling synergies that come together when major institutions sit in close proximity to each other,” added Jim Zboril, President of Lake Nona. “It allows for world class collaborative programs and services such as joint marketing, workforce housing, comprehensive transportation plans, government advocacy efforts and child care programs to name a few.”

In addition to its location, which will enable the pediatric health organization to leverage these synergies, the Lake Nona site is substantially ready for development. “We are very pleased with the new location and terms of the agreement that allow us to locate our children’s hospital within immediate proximity of our partners,” noted Nemours President and CEO David Bailey, MD, MBA. “Both the Lake Nona and Boggy Creek sites offered advantages. However, the Boggy Creek property is an undeveloped parcel, which requires greater infrastructure, development and time for changes in zoning. These issues were mitigated with the refined offer presented by Tavistock, allowing us to steward our resources and time in the best way possible for the children of Florida.”
