Jacksonville, FL - Nemours BrightStart! Dyslexia Initiative, a local pioneering program that offers free screening to identify children at risk of reading difficulty in rising kindergartners, has teamed up with Episcopal Children’s Services and United Way of Northeast Florida to help Jacksonville parents learn how to be their “Child’s First Teacher.” Free parent education workshops are being offered through May, funded in part by the Early Learning Coalition of Duval County.
“We hope many parents take advantage of these free workshops that offer information and tools to tackle behavior management, child growth and development and child safety,” said Laura Bailet, PhD, Executive Director of Nemours BrightStart! Dyslexia Initiative. “Parents and early child care workers will have the opportunity to speak with child health and development experts in a classroom filled with other parents of young children.”
