Nemours Releases Findings from the Florida Chartbook and Announces Success of ‘Capitol Steps for Kids’ Obesity Prevention Pedometer Challenge
WHAT:
The release of findings from the Florida Chartbook: A Compilation of Current Research and Data Regarding Children’s Health and Health Care Quality, and the completion of the ‘Capitol Steps for Kids’ pedometer challenge, aimed at generating advocacy and awareness for the childhood obesity epidemic and other issues faced by Florida’s youth.
Nemours partnered with the University of South Florida, All Children's Hospital and the Agency for Healthcare Administration to fund the development of the Florida Chartbook. The purpose of the Florida Chartbook is to share information about the state of children's health in Florida. Nemours will collaborate with other health care providers, community agencies and related pediatric organizations to further pediatric advocacy.
As a returning sponsor of the ‘Capitol Steps for Kids’ program, Nemours leaders will announce the total number of steps taken by children and child advocates throughout the state to recognize and highlight children’s issues in Florida. Over 20,000 children and families were given pedometers to monitor their steps walked throughout recent statewide events.

The goal of the annual Children’s Week event in Tallahassee is to bring attention and focus to important legislative issues that impact the future of Florida's children.
More than 70 statewide partners and corporations teamed up to host and promote the 13th Annual Florida Children’s Week and corresponding one hundred-plus different events, forums and activities across the state, culminating in events at the state Capitol March 30 – April 4.
