Family Resource CenterWilmington, DE – Families at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children eagerly awaited the February 13 opening of the new Family Resource Center and Ronald McDonald Family Room. The new Center, decorated in soothing earth tones with twinkling lights to mimic a starlit sky promised to be a welcome addition, where families could enjoy some of the comforts of home, just a few short steps away from their child’s bedside.

In its first month, over 1,000 families visited this new, spacious area. The most appreciated feature of the Center is the laundry facility. Over 100 families have used the free and conveniently located washer and dryer during their children’s stay in the hospital. There are also sleep rooms, equipped with a full-size bed and comfortable furniture, where almost 40 parents have stayed, giving parents a peaceful respite from hospital life.

The Family Resource Center and Ronald McDonald Family Room also provides a kitchenette, a library with books, periodicals and DVDs, a Family Education Center and a business center with a copier, fax machine, computers and printers.

This was a joint project between duPont Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware. By providing this area, Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children continues to demonstrate their commitment to family-centered care.
