Orlando, Florida
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 @ 12:00 AM EDT
The Orlando and Lake Mary offices will reopen at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning
Due to the potential for poor weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Fay, Nemours’ main campus in downtown Orlando along with the Lake Mary satellite clinic will close at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19 for the safety of Associates and patients. Nemours plans to reopen the two offices at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20. The Daytona Beach and Viera satellite offices, at this time however, will remain closed until 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21. If weather permits, Nemours may reopen the Viera clinic on Wednesday afternoon. A decision will be rendered on Wednesday morning after reevaluating the weather and safety conditions.
Nemours Children’s Clinics will NOT see any patients on the dates and times that they are closed. Parents of children being treated by Nemours at these locations are encouraged to call the clinics when they are open to reschedule appointments and surgeries. The main number for Nemours Children’s Clinic is (407) 650-7000 or (800) SOS-KIDS for those living outside of the local calling area.
As we try to meet the needs of our patients, Nemours will continue to monitor current weather conditions and reassess the possibility of closing or reopening clinics on Wednesday, August 20.

Nemours, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems, is dedicated to achieving higher standards in children’s health. Nemours offers an integrated spectrum of clinical treatment coupled with research, advocacy, and educational health and prevention services extending to all families in the communities it serves. Starting with Alfred I. duPont’s bequest over seventy years ago, Nemours has grown into a multi-dimensional organization offering personalized clinical and preventive care focused on children.
Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware and major children’s specialty clinics in Delaware (Wilmington), Florida (Jacksonville, Orlando and Pensacola), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr) and New Jersey (Atlantic City and Voorhees). Having recently received preliminary approval from the State of Florida, Nemours will establish a new full-service children’s hospital as part of an integrated pediatric health campus in Orlando. KidsHealth.org, the world’s most visited pediatric health care Web site for parents, kids and teens, is a project of Nemours.
Nemours employs over 4,400 individuals, including 430 pediatric physicians, specialists and surgeons who cared for approximately a quarter of a million children in 2007.
