On May 12 Tri-State CheerNastics presented a check to Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to benefit their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Funds totaling $32,000 were raised through the fourth annual Cheer for Charity competition, an all-day event that had more than 160 local and regional cheerleading teams competing.
Andy Hoff and Jeff Martino, of Tri-State CheerNastics, Inc. presented the check to the Nemours Partnership for Children’s Health, the philanthropic arm of Nemours. The contribution is the first installment of a pledge of $100,000 to renovate and expand the PICU. Plans call for a completely new PICU to be built adjacent to the existing unit. Patients will be moved into the new area and then the existing space will be renovated and joined with the new section. The PICU, which have private rooms, will have an increased number of beds to serve a growing number of children requiring critical care.
“This is a very exciting gift, as it is the first building block of our plans to have a state-of-the-art facility that truly serves the needs of very sick children and their families, as well as providing greater efficiencies in the way care is provided. We are truly grateful to Tri-State CheerNastics for their generosity,” said Tom P. Ferry, CEO of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
