Nemours Appoints Leaders to Guide Florida Strategy

Nemours, one of the nation’s leading children’s health systems, recently selected several key individuals to guide Nemours’ mission to improve the health of children as well as develop an integrated system of pediatric care in Florida.

Nemours appointed new members to its Florida Board of Managers that serves as the governing body for Nemours health care facilities in Florida and in the future, Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando. This leadership group provides guidance to ensure that the organization has a strong strategic focus in delivering the programs and services needed in the communities Nemours serves throughout the state. New members include former Florida Lieutenant Governor Toni Jennings, David Dizney, president and chief executive officer of United Medical Corporation, Craig M. McAllaster, Ed.D., dean and professor of management at the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business, and Robert K. Wilson, Jr., M.D., clerkship co-director in pediatrics, clinical professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine Pensacola Regional Campus. They join a distinguished group of current members including Charles E. Hughes, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Florida Capital Group, Inc. and chairman of the Nemours Florida Board of Managers, Gerald F. Banks, president and owner of Rowena Corporation and president of Action Ice, LLC, Catherine Brown-Butler, senior vice president, market development manager for Bank of America, Leonard H. Habas, chairman and chief executive officer of Advance Publishers, and J. Malcolm Jones, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Jones Financial Group.

Nemours also announced the appointment of Bill Winder to a newly created position of senior administrator, Nemours Florida. In his new role, Winder will collaborate with a team of professionals in leading the development and integration of the Nemours Florida system of care. In addition, he will have a role in the development of affiliations, partnerships with community organizations, strategic and business planning, including health care system integration and retail business strategy. Winder’s appointment will allow him to focus on and drive the development of Nemours Children’s Hospital. Winder has nearly 30 years of experience with Nemours, beginning as a staff pharmacist for the Nemours Health Clinic in Wilmington, Delaware. During his tenure, he has held several management positions including administrator of Nemours Florida, and he continues to be instrumental in planning for the new Nemours Children’s Hospital in Florida.

In Jacksonville, Nemours designated Michael Erhard, M.D. as medical director for Nemours Children’s Clinic Jacksonville and Paul Pitel, M.D. as associate chief executive of the practice for Nemours Florida. These critical positions will help Nemours in achieving its strategic destination of being ranked in the top five percent of child health institutions in the nation by 2015, defined by patient satisfaction and targeted health and quality outcomes.
