Nemours launched a new partnership in June with Orange County Parks and Recreation to provide a healthy lifestyle and activity series in Orlando. The series, featuring the Nemours 5-2-1-Almost None program is being held at Orlo Vista Park in Pine Hills once a week for ten weeks (two separate five week sessions) and will wrap up in mid-August. The sessions are held on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
During the first half of the session Nemours provides a nutritionist and social worker to teach the 5-2-1 program and during the second half of the program, Orange County teaches the physical activity. The sessions are free to the community.
The 5-2-1-Almost None program created by Nemours Health and Prevention Services emphasizes health through four core behaviors: eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day, limiting screen time (TV, computers, video games) to no more than two hours a day, getting at least one hour of physical activity a day and drinking almost no sugary beverages, including sodas, sports drinks and fruit drinks.
