ORLANDO, FL - Nemours, one of the nation’s premier pediatric health systems, today announces the appointment of Lane F. Donnelly, MD, to the positions of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Physician-in-Chief at Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH). He will also serve as Vice President for the health system. Additionally, Dr. Donnelly will become Chair of Radiology for the Nemours enterprise, overseeing all pediatric radiology services across the organization. He joins Nemours on February 1.
As CMO and Physician-in-Chief, Dr. Donnelly will lead the health and wellness strategy for NCH and serve as the principal architect of the clinical, academic, research and business alignment strategies for the new top-tier pediatric health campus. In his position as Chair of Radiology for Nemours, Dr. Donnelly will build upon the organization’s well-established foundation to create an enterprise-wide vision for pediatric radiology services that will provide unprecedented care for children.
Dr. Donnelly is a nationally recognized physician with a distinguished list of accomplishments including a background in research, multidisciplinary care, teaching, patient safety and quality improvement. He joins the organization from his most recent position as Radiologist-in-Chief at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also the Frederic N. Silverman Chair of Pediatric Radiology and Director, Biodiagnostics (radiology and laboratory services) at CCHMC, which is consistently ranked as one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News and World Report.

A graduate of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Donnelly completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the University Hospital Medical Center at the University of Cincinnati and a pediatric radiology fellowship at CCHMC. His academic teaching appointments have included positions at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Duke University Medical School. Dr. Donnelly has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles as well as his book, Pediatric Imaging: the Fundamentals, which is the pediatric radiology text read by most radiology residents. He also holds multiple offices with the American Board of Radiology, the Society for Pediatric Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and is board certified in pediatric radiology.
During his career at CCHMC, Dr. Donnelly led one of the largest pediatric radiology training programs in the country and spearheaded research efforts that resulted in the Department of Radiology being a national leader. He has also been recognized with numerous honors for research in quality and safety and, in April 2009, was awarded the Singleton-Taybi Award for Lifetime Achievements in Education by the Society for Pediatric Radiology.
