As part of the National Governors Association annual meeting, being hosted this year by Governor Jack Markell and his wife Carla, the First Spouses were invited to a day at Nemours. Starting with a tour of the Shands Medical Director's House, more than 15 First Ladies toured the Nemours Mansion and Gardens. Following lunch, the dignitaries spent time with current Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children patients in Child Life, a program designed to meet the social and emotional needs of children during hospitalization. Necklace making, t-shirt painting, jewelry box design, billiards and video games rounded out the day.
