Children with sickle cell disease create art for display in the hospital.
Children with sickle cell create artwork that will be scanned and displayed quilt-style in the hospital.

The William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund of Baltimore, MD, brought the therapeutic art program artSPEAKS, developed for children with sickle cell disease, to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in November.

The Fund was established to honor the memory
of William Proudford by supporting sickle cell awareness, education, treatment, and research,
and to bring hope to families affected by the disease.

Through artSPEAKS, children of all ages create powerful and compelling works that express
the pain, struggles, triumphs, and hopes of
living with sickle cell disease.

Over the past four years, the Proudford Fund has established a $100,000 endowment in William
Proudford’s name to support sickle cell education
and research at the duPont Hospital for Children.
