Wilmington, DE - Earlier this month the Healthy Kids Delaware (HKD) network celebrated its one-year anniversary. Joined by New Castle County Executive Paul Clark, Wilmington City Mayor James Baker and Wilmington City Councilman Penrose Hollins, the network of over 40 organizations came together to mark this milestone and accomplishments over the year.
The Healthy Kids Delaware network has been working to address health and wellness needs of children throughout New Castle County. Speaking of the value of the network, Westside Family Healthcare's Deputy Director Sarah Noonan noted, "Westside is thrilled to be a member of HKD. We have greatly benefited from the network and relationships formed. Our involvement has broken down the silos in helping us work more collaboratively and effectively with other groups to improve health in our community."
"Our vision is to have healthy communities where our children thrive," remarked Donna Snyder-White of Nemours Health & Prevention Services. "We all know that it takes a village to keep children healthy and well and Healthy Kids Delaware is part of a statewide village of community groups, businesses and individuals who have collectively come together to leverage our resources with the goal of improving the health of kids."
New Castle County Executive Paul Clark announced his new Live Healthy New Castle County plan to strengthen NCC's efforts to create an environment that promotes good health. In addition, New Castle County Councilman Penrose Hollins presented the network with a resolution adopted by New Castle County Council in honor of the first year celebration.
