Masonic Grand Lodge of PA makes a $40,000 gift to Nemours
At the check presentation made by the Masonic Grand Lodge of PA to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 were (l to r): Gary Emmet, MD, Jefferson Director of Hospital Pediatrics; Glenn Stryjewski, MD, Director of Critical Care Medicine, Nemours; Grandmaster Thomas Sturgeon and Col. Harris Brooks of the Masons.

The Masonic Grand Lodge of
Pennsylvania
has made a gift of
$40,000 to Nemours/Alfred I.
duPont Hospital for Children
to
purchase telemedicine equipment
for use with pediatric patients at the
Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Telemedicine enables doctors to
evaluate children from a distance
by using cameras and computers.

For example, examinations and
radiology studies conducted at the
base in Dover can be instantly
transmitted for consultation with
pediatric specialists at the duPont
Hospital for Children in Wilmington,
saving the family a trip and additional expenses, and allowing for timely
diagnosis and treatment.

The generous donation from the Masonic
Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania is through
the original “Change for Troops” and now
the “Help for Heroes” fund, which is
supported by individual masons in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Col. Harris Brooks, representing the Masons, said, “Our military families deserve the best care. We are delighted to make this donation to help support them and the physicians at the base. It’s a win-win-win for the kids, the base, and the hospital.”
