Scheduling Specialty Care Visits to the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital

The first part of this call consists of patient pre-registration. We’ll collect information such as:

• your child’s name
• address
• phone numbers (home phone and cell)
• date of birth
• name of primary care physician and/or referring doctor
• insurance information (Note: Once we verify insurance, you will be told if you need a referral for the appointment.)
• pharmacy preference

Next, you’ll be transferred to a scheduler in the department you’re requesting. In some cases, the referring physician needs to contact the subspecialist first, as in the case of Hematology/Oncology. This scheduler will then make the appointment for you, and tell you what you need to bring to the first visit:

• insurance card
• medical records, if being referred by another health care provider
• lab results, if indicated

We will provide you with directions to the office or clinic.
