What is the trial about?

The purpose of the study is to look at whether the use of a simple technique before surgery, which involves inflating a blood pressure cuff on the infant’s leg, is related to the later development of language, motor, and thinking skills at 12 months of age.

Who can participate?

This study will include patients with congenital heart disease who are scheduled to undergo open-heart surgery at or below 6 months of age.

What is involved?

There will be one visit when the patient is approximately 12 months of age that includes developmental testing and parent questionnaires.
