Clinical Trial

Offered by: Nemours
Location: Delaware Valley

What is the trial about?

This study will help kids with obesity who are at risk for diabetes and liver disease decrease their weight and improve healthy lifestyles.

Who can participate?

Kids age 10-18 that are seen at a Nemours Primary care practice that have been diagnosed with increased weight and have a Body Mass index (BMI) >95% as determined by their pediatrician.

What is involved?

Study participation will use lab values already taken by the pediatrician to determine participants risk for complications associated with increased weight. Participants will be seen monthly by their primary care provider to help with setting healthy lifestyle goals and weight management. Kids at higher risk for weight related complications will also interact on a weekly basis with a health coach. As part of this study we will be trying out new ways of communicating with families and patients through the computer. We will also be drawing blood for disease risk markers and future genetic testing.
