Prospective Study of Motion Preservation Below Thoracic Spine Fusions in AIS

What is the trial about?

We want to better understand how spinal fusion surgery affects range of motion and quality of life after surgery. We also want to improve our ability to measure range of motion.

Who can participate?

Patients who: 

  • are returning to the clinic to have a 2-year (or more than 2-year) follow-up visit for spine surgery
  • are under age 21 at the time of the visit 
  • had spine surgery to correct adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS)

What is involved?

Sixty patients will be enrolled in this multicenter study. Only one visit is necessary, and this is done during a normal physician visit. The following procedures are routine during the visit with the physician.

  • dlinical examination
  • X-rays
  • questionnaires
  • clinical photos
