Using Dynamic Elbow Ultrasound to Identify the Effect of Pitching on the Structural and Functional Anatomy of the Ulnar Collateral Ligament in Youth Baseball Pitchers

What is the trial about?

The purpose of this study is to obtain baseline data of the UCL, and to determine if any abnormalities exist in youth and adolescent pitchers who are not complaining of any issues with their throwing elbow

Who can participate?

This study is open to male baseball pitchers between the ages of 12 and18 who have never had elbow surgery and have not had elbow pain in the last 6 months that has resulted in a temporary rest from pitching.

What is involved?

The study consists of one visit which will take approximately 45 minutes.

Your child will answer a questionnaire, have an ultrasound of both of his elbows with and without stress, and have the length and circumference of his arm measured.
