Center for Pediatric Psychology Research

The Center for Pediatric Psychology Research conducts pediatric psychology research and research-based training for patients and families at Nemours Children’s Clinic Jacksonville. Research staff provide consultative services directly to patients and families as well as collaborate with Nemours pediatric specialists for studies involving psychological aspects of pediatric health and illness.

The Center’s work seeks to promote more effective management of chronic pediatric diseases through a more holistic understanding of the complex behavioral, emotional and cognitive factors that influence successful family management of these conditions.

Several recent studies are focused on the condition of pediatric diabetes, and include aspects of preventive behavioral intervention in treatment adherence; quality of life and disease management related to continuous glucose monitoring; and targeted behavioral intervention to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. The Center is also involved in projects related to cardiovascular disease and the association of obesity and asthma.
