Nemours Associate: Any person directly employed by The Nemours Foundation meeting the definition of employee as established by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) or other applicable law or regulation, including physicians and administrators. (HSP-051)

Neonate: A newborn baby. See: Viable neonate. (HSP#070)

Noncompliance:Failure to follow the regulations or the requirements and determinations of the IRB. (HSP#058)

Non-scientific member: Any IRB member whose training, background and occupation are unambiguously non-scientific. Examples of non-scientific members include: lawyers, clergy, ethicists, and accountants. (HSP#009)

Nonsignificant risk device: A medical device that does not meet the criteria for a significant risk device. (HSP-075) See: Significant Risk Device.
