Viable neonate: Being able, after delivery, to survive (given the benefit of available medical therapy ) to the point of independently maintaining heartbeat and respiration. See: Neonate. (HSP#070)

Vice-Chair: An IRB member who performs the duties of the Chair in the Chair’s absence in order to assure uninterrupted functioning of the IRB, and who may be assigned additional routine duties as agreed upon by the Chair. (HSP#009)

Visitor: An individual who attends one or more IRB meetings as an invited guest of the Director, NOHSP, IRB Chair or IRB Member. A visitor does not participate in IRB discussions, except as requested by the IRB Chair, and does not vote. (HSP#012)
