Endocrinology

Nemours’ endocrinology staff provides diagnostic and treatment services to infants, children, and teenagers with a variety of disorders related to hormones. Hormones are chemical substances in the body produced by glands such as the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, or pituitary. Hormones circulate in the bloodstream and affect the way other parts of the body function.

Board-certified pediatric endocrinologists are specialists who deal with hormonal problems in children. Nemours’ pediatric endocrinologists are subspecialty trained, board-certified or eligible, and have easy access to best practices from the Nemours system, medical literature and the latest technology.

Common problems seen include diabetes, growth disorders, obesity, rickets, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, precocious puberty, hypothyroidism, Graves disease, Cushing syndrome, hypopituitarism, Turner syndrome, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Nemours’ endocrinologists are extensively involved in clinical research activities, including participating in multi-center trials of different medications used to treat hormonal problems. This allows patients to participate in innovative, original treatment options potentially not available elsewhere.

Nemours endocrinologists and caregivers provide excellent care that places the patient and family at the center, and our commitment to communication is central to the process. We strive to create a uniquely satisfying experience bringing peace of mind to patients and families.

Nemours locations offer a range of endocrinology services. Please refer to the sites listed to the left for specific services available at each location.
