Dr. Cynthia Zettler-Greeley, PhD

Assistant Director Research Evaluation, Nemours BrightStart!

As Assistant Director of Research and Evaluation, Dr. Zettler-Greeley is responsible for the management and integrity of research and evaluation activities at Nemours BrightStart!, including experimental design, assessment, implementation fidelity, statistical analysis, and dissemination of research results. She has substantial expertise in conducting and evaluating randomized controlled trials in early literacy intervention research, with more than a decade of experience in literacy, language, cognitive, and auditory assessment of preschool and school-aged children across multiple clinical populations. Her research interests include emergent literacy assessment and evaluation, research methodology and statistics, and the influence of auditory perception and language development on reading ability and disability.

Dr. Zettler-Greeley received her doctorate in developmental psychology from Georgia State University, focusing on auditory and language-based learning disorders, psychoacoustics, neuropsychology of reading and reading disabilities, and advanced experimental design and statistics.  Prior to joining Nemours in 2010, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied the development of language and binaural hearing in children who are deaf and use bilateral cochlear implants.

She maintains professional affiliations with American Educational Research Association, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, International Dyslexia Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Society for Research in Child Development, and Society for Research in Educational Effectiveness, and is a current board member of the Florida Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Her research is published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at academic conferences worldwide.
