At the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, our anesthesiologists work side by side with certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs). Nurse anesthetists are Master’s- trained advanced practice nurses who are licensed to provide anesthesia to patients in all settings. At Nemours, our CRNAs administer all aspects of anesthesia care under the supervision of staff anesthesiologists.
To provide better understanding of the anesthesia or sedation, we also provide access to online educational programs about your child’s anesthesia that you can watch with your child on any computer. Created by Emmi® Kids, these easy-to-use animated programs will help both you and your child better understand the anesthesia process and what to expect at every step. Access to these videos will be provided when your child's surgery is scheduled.
We have a long-standing affiliation with the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, as well as a fully accredited Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship Program. These cooperative relationships not only allow us to train new leaders in the field of pediatric anesthesiology, but they also give us access to the latest worldwide research and medical advances.
