Doctors:
Doctors and other caregivers within the Division of Hematology/Oncology diagnose and treat children with a variety of cancers (oncology). Patients are referred to us from primary care providers, family practice physicians, and pediatricians throughout northwest Florida and southern Alabama.
We’re part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), an international organization that conducts research to identify cancer causes and pioneer state-of-the-art treatments and cures for childhood cancer. Our participation in COG allows us to offer the best care available. Our staff members are also actively involved in clinical research to develop new treatments.
At our clinic, patients receive outpatient chemotherapy treatments and intravenous (through a vein) drug infusions in a child-friendly environment. And we hold special clinics for long-term follow-up of children with cancer.
Children who need to be hospitalized for their care are admitted to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Pensacola, FL. With assistance from our Nemours physicians, Sacred Heart now offers a Hematology/Oncology Pediatric Unit specially dedicated to children with cancer. The Thomas Jenkins Pediatric Oncology Unit is named after Dr. Jenkins, a Nemours hematologist/oncologist.
