Diagnostic Tests
We offer a comprehensive array of pediatric cardiology services, including diagnostic tests, on-site at the Nemours Cardiac Center, located in the world-renowned Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC).
Echocardiography studies can be done anywhere within our facility – often right at your child’s bedside, to make the experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible. We also offer supervised cardiopulmonary (exercise or stress) tests within the Center. And we can perform any kind of imaging test your child might need, either within the Cardiac Center itself or the hospital’s Radiology Department.
Our electrophysiology and arrhythmia team provides our patients with a special clinic dedicated to evaluating fetuses, babies, children, and teens with symptoms suggesting an arrhythmia (irregular or abnormal heartbeats or heart rhythm usually caused by an electrical “short circuit” in the heart). Signs of an arrhythmia may include: palpitations (a sort of fluttering feeling in the heart), very fast or slow heart rates, dizziness, chest pain, and fainting (also called syncope).
In our new, state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization suite our team is able to use advanced techniques to determine the exact details of your child’s heart and how it functions. And our operating room, used exclusively for cardiac patients, allows our doctors to perform surgical procedures (diagnostic and treatment) within the convenience of our Center. If your child requires anesthesia or sedation, we have our very own anesthesiologists (who also work only with cardiac patients).
