At the Division of Endocrinology at Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville we evaluate, diagnose, and treat the babies, kids, and teens of northeast Florida and southern Georgia with type 1 and type 2 diabetes (as well as diabetes-related conditions). Our skilled team includes board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, nurses and nurse practitioners, and dietitians – all experienced and dedicated to the care of children of all ages. And our certified diabetes educators (CDEs) offer American Diabetes Association-certified individualized diabetes education for our patients and families.

Our commitment to groundbreaking research

Our physicians and scientists involved in The Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Research (located in Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville) have a passion for clinical research and extensive experience conducting original studies investigating diabetes and obesity, in both children and young adults. Because of our involvement in these kinds of research activities, the kids we care for can benefit from innovative and original treatment options that may not be available at other centers.

Our collaborations to offer optimal care

Children who need to be hospitalized for diabetes can stay at the adjacent Wolfson Children’s Hospital – among the many health care providers we’ve partnered with to make it easy for your child to get Nemours’ quality of care at other convenient locations. Through our affiliation with Wolfson (connected to our downtown clinic by an enclosed walkway) we’re also able to offer 24-hour emergency, inpatient, and consultative services from our Nemours doctors.

Our special Pediatric Diabetes Center

The Northeast Florida Pediatric Diabetes Center is also a collaborative effort between Nemours and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. At the Center (staffed by certified diabetes educators/CDEs, pediatric endocrinologists, registered nurses, and dietitians) we provide one-on-one instruction per family for children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. As the only pediatric diabetes center in Northeast Florida, we’re helping these families understand the diagnosis and build the confidence required to successfully manage diabetes. The center has accreditation as a center of excellence by the American Diabetes Association.
