At the Division of Endocrinology at Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville we evaluate, diagnose, and treat the babies, kids, and teens of northeast Florida and southern Georgia with disorders related to the endocrine system (hormones and growth) – including diabetes, growth disorders, abnormal thyroid function, disorders of puberty, and many more.

Our skilled team includes board-certified endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, and diabetes educators – all experienced and dedicated to the care of children of all ages.

Our comprehensive diagnostic services

To help us care for your child, we offer:

• an on-site blood drawing station
• convenient scheduling for X rays and other imaging tests
• pediatric bone densitometry (DEXA) testing (imaging scan of the bones), with results interpreted by our skilled endocrinologists
• special tests of endocrine function performed at the adjacent Wolfson Children’s Hospital (such as growth hormone stimulation tests that measure a child’s ability to produce normal amounts of growth hormone)

Our physicians and scientists involved in The Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes  & Metabolism Research, located in Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville have a passion for clinical research and extensive experience conducting original studies investigating bone and growth disorders, diabetes, and nutritional disorders in both children and adolescents. 

Time and again, the Center has demonstrated its excellence through its multiple grants and publications. We also participate in multi-center clinical trials of new therapies and devices used to treat children’s hormonal problems. In addition, we have full access to all subspecialty clinics and services (radiology, ophthalmology, nutrition, lab, etc.) for subjects who need specialized healthcare, tests, or procedures while participating in studies.

Because of our involvement in these kinds of research activities, the children we care for can benefit from innovative and original treatment options that may not be available at other centers.

Our training of tomorrow’s experts

In association with the University of Florida Medical College’s Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program, our Nemours endocrinologists help train pediatricians interested in becoming pediatric endocrinologists, too. Our recently established Pediatric Endocrine Fellowship Program aims to train the next generation of pediatric endocrinologists – an area of great need among pediatric subspecialties.

Our collaborations to offer optimal care

Children who need to be hospitalized can stay at Wolfson Children’s Hospital (connected to our clinic by a walkway). Wolfson is among the many health care providers we’ve partnered with to make it easy for your child to get Nemours’ quality of care at other convenient locations. Through our affiliation with the adjacent Wolfson we’re also able to offer 24-hour emergency, inpatient, and consultative services from our Nemours doctors.

The Northeast Florida Pediatric Diabetes Center is also a collaborative effort between Nemours and Wolfson. At the Center (staffed by certified diabetes educators/, pediatric endocrinologists, registered nurses, and dietitians) we provide one-on-one instruction per family for children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. As the only pediatric diabetes center in Northeast Florida we’re helping these families understand the diagnosis and develop the confidence necessary to deliver the care required to successfully manage this increasingly common condition.
