Nemours Physician Selected to National Leadership Program
Wilmington, DE – Sharon S. Lehman, MD, Division Chief, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, has been selected to the 2013-2014 class of fellows in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine. This is the 19th incoming class for ELAM®, the only program in North America dedicated to preparing women for senior leadership roles in academic health science institutions.
Dr. Lehman received her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University and completed her internship at Presbyterian Hospital, University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. She did her residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, and became a fellow in pediatric ophthalmology at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. She joined Nemours in 1998 and is the first Robison D. Harley, MD, Endowed Chair of Pediatric Ophthalmology.
Upon completion of this one-year fellowship, Dr. Lehman will join a prestigious group of alumnae from around the world, who serve in a variety of leadership positions including department chairs, research center directors, deans and college presidents as well as chief executives in health care and accrediting organizations.
