With all-new facilities and an expanded team of skilled, certified specialists and licensed therapists, Nemours duPont Pediatrics, Voorhees brings a new level of care to children throughout South Jersey. Using a family-centered approach, we’ll help your child live more independently, learn, and communicate more effectively, and perform better at activities of daily living.
Whether your child is recovering from an illness or injury, or living with a disability, our team will partner with your family, primary care physician, and other professionals to develop a customized treatment plan that makes the most of your child’s quality of life.
Our speech and language specialists (also called speech and language therapists or speech/language therapists) evaluate, treat, and provide consultation for children with problems related to feeding and swallowing. We’ll assess your child’s oral feeding skills, provide family education, and help your child learn to eat and drink more safely – so mealtimes can be more enjoyable and less stressful for your child and your whole family.
Our team works collaboratively with your child's physician and other specialists to provide a coordinated approach to care. Additional services, including specialized types of diagnostic testing and treatment, are available at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE.
Our speech and language specialists evaluate, treat, and provide consultation for children with a variety of disorders that affect communication. We can help your child improve understanding and expression skills, overcome language-related learning disabilities, and develop better voice control, articulation, and motor speech skills.
We also provide family education that helps siblings, parents, and others involved in your child’s care understand the complex processes involved in communication. Additional services, including specialized types of diagnostic testing and treatment, are available at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
If a physical, cognitive, or developmental problem makes it difficult for your child to learn, process information, or perform everyday tasks (like self care, school, and leisure activities), our occupational therapists can help. We provide evaluation and consultation with other professionals, along with family education services for you, the parents, as well as siblings and others involved in your child’s care.
Using this family-centered approach, we can help your child by:
- managing sensory disorders
- splinting upper extremities
- training movement and strengthening muscles
- helping you and your child learn to manage activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing, and hygiene
Additional services, including specialized types of diagnostic testing and treatment, are available at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
Our physical therapists focus on helping infants, kids, and teens overcome physical limitations that can come from a variety of causes – including delayed motor skill development, a traumatic injury, a disease process or disorder, or surgery. We provide evaluation and consultation with other professionals, along with family education services for you, the parents, as well as siblings and others involved in your child’s care.
Whatever challenges your child faces, we’ll work with your family to develop a plan of care that can help drive improvements. Some examples include:
- strengthening muscles
- increasing range of motion
- improving balance and coordination
- stimulating normal development
- improving gait (how a person walks)
- recovering from an injury or surgery
Additional services, including specialized types of diagnostic testing and treatment, are available at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
