Walk-In Sick Time Care for Established Patients

For your convenience, Lake Nona Pediatrics provides walk-in sick care Monday–Friday from 8–9 a.m. for our established patients. If your child has an acute illness like a sore throat, fever, earache, you can visit us anytime during the hour without calling ahead.

Please note that we provide this service on a first-come, first-serve basis only for simple acute illness, not for well-child visits, complicated problems, or follow-up visits (in which case, we’ll make an appointment for a return visit). If your child is a new patient, please call to schedule an appointment.

Complimentary Meet–and–Greet Appointments for Expectant Parents

We also offer courtesy informational appointments for expectant parents trying to make a choice about their baby’s primary care pediatrician. This is a great time to meet our doctor and staff, see our facility, and learn more about our practice. Call us to schedule your appointment.

Dr. Athans will care for her newborn patients delivered at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, where she is on staff.

Specialty Care Coordination

If your child has special health needs, our primary care pediatricians can help arrange care with a pediatric specialist of your choice, including specialists at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona, or a Nemours Children’s Clinic near downtown Orlando, as well as Lake Mary and Melbourne. Some common conditions we refer children for include:

  • autism
  • developmental delay
  • cerebral palsy
  • diabetes
  • gastrointestinal conditions
  • genetic conditions

And every member of your child’s Nemours pediatric care team (your child’s primary care pediatrician, advance practice nurse or specialist) will have access to your child’s medical information, with just the click of a button.

Offering Advice and Information for Every Age

Nemours' holistic approach to primary care pediatrics also includes providing you with guidance about what to expect as your child grows, including information about things like:

  • developmental milestones (when you can expect your child to crawl, walk, talk, run, hop, throw a ball)
  • behavior (dealing with tantrums, timeouts, positive parenting, etc.)
  • nutrition (breastfeeding advice, feeding finicky eaters, ensuring a healthy diet in older kids, etc.)
  • injury prevention (childproofing, car safety, bike safety, gun safety, fire safety, water safety, etc.)
