Muscle Respiratory Care

Our Muscle Respiratory Clinic is a part of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) program and represents a special collaboration between pulmonary medicine and our muscle disorders program. Orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and pulmonologists come together to provide a team approach to the care of children with neuromuscular diseases. Respiratory problems can occur as a complication of these conditions, which include:
- Duchenne muscular dystrophy
- congenital muscular dystrophy
- Friedreichs ataxia
- spinal muscular atrophy
Because of our coordinated approach to care, patients and families are able to be evaluated by several specialists on the same day, each time they visit. Appropriate testing is ordered at the time of the outpatient visit.
