Minimally Invasive Surgery
Our board-certified physicians in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the Nemours Children’s Clinic, Pensacola offer minimally invasive procedures (when it’s appropriate) for newborns, infants, children, and teens with non-cardiac (non-heart-related) chest and chest wall conditions, as well as conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract.
Our surgeons specialize in laparoscopic surgery (working with scopes through very small incisions to decrease hospital stays and produce smaller scars). For minor procedures, we use our own procedure room, located in our clinic.
And Nemours’ alliances with other health care providers make it easy for your child to get Nemours’ quality of care. One of those many partnerships is with the adjoining Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, where our Nemours surgeons are able to perform more complex outpatient, as well as inpatient, procedures. This collaboration with the hospital also allows us to offer 24-hour emergency, inpatient, and consultative services to children in and around Pensacola, as well as those from the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama.
Whatever type of procedure your child needs, we request that your child come in for a pre-surgical evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, within seven days before the surgery date. If necessary, some tests may be ordered.
