About Anesthesia

Parents often have questions about the anesthesia used for surgery.  Rest assured that during any urologic procedure that requires anesthesia, our board-certified Nemours pediatric anesthesiologists are right there to make decisions on the best types of medicine to keep your child comfortable.

Helpful Videos

We can also help you and your child understand and prepare for a surgical procedure through our unique EmmiKids videos that make complex medical information easy-to-understand. Emmi® has online programs on hypospadias, circumcision, and orchiopexy. Your doctor will give you a special code that will allow you to access your EmmiKids program from any computer.

Among the procedures our urologists provide are:

• laparoscopy
• endoscopic management of vesico-ureteral reflux
• ureteroscopy and Holmium laser lithotripsy
• extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy
• genito-urinary reconstructive surgery

We also offer special tests including video fluoroscopic urodynamic testing and non-invasive uroflowmetry.

Specialized Care of Your Child's Urological Problems

The Bladder Clinic is led by our experienced and compassionate nurse practitioner who works in conjunction with our pediatric urologists to take care of your child’s bladder problems.

Our comprehensive program is specifically designed for the evaluation and management of urinary incontinence in kids, including voiding dysfunctions such as daytime wetting, urinary urgency and frequency, or nighttime bedwetting in older children.

We understand that bladder problems can be embarrassing for children. We also know that developmental, emotional, and behavioral issues can complicate dysfunctional elimination. We work to get to the heart of, and treat, all the medical and/or behavioral issues impacting a child’s inability to void normally.

The Spina Bifida Clinic is a coordinated program that gives children with spina bifida access to a team of specialists – including orthopedists, neurosurgeons, urologists, and rehabilitation doctors – who can manage all of their medical needs in one place.

Nemours Partners for Perinatal Management Through this program, our urologists work with expectant parents and their doctors to help evaluate congenital (present at birth) urological conditions, and develop a plan of care for before and after your baby is born.
