Neurology
At Nemours, our neurologists treat newborns, infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of neurological conditions including epilepsy, muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular problems, headaches and other pain syndromes, neurofibromatosis and other neurocutaneous syndromes, neurodegenerative disorders, developmental delays and metabolic disorders.
Evaluative tools include EEG, neurosleep studies, electromyography (EMG) testing and CT and MRI/MRS. Neurology research programs enable our patients to receive the latest treatments that may be unavailable elsewhere.
Nemours neurologists are usually trained in multiple specialties—pediatrics and neurology, for example. Nemours neurologists use an integrated medical record that unifies patient care across specialties and locations, prompting physicians to consider best practices gained from Nemours experience and academic literature. We provide excellent care that places the patient and family at the center, and our commitment to communication is central to the process. We strive to create a uniquely satisfying experience bringing peace of mind to patients and families.
For example, the Division of Neurology at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children holds the only Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic in the state of Delaware to evaluate and treat children with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases. A similar clinic also exists at Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville. Patients are managed by a pediatric neurologist and may access some of the many consultative services readily available including genetic counseling, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary medicine and physical therapy.
Nemours locations offer a range of neurology services. Please refer to the sites listed to the left for specific services available at each location.
