Dana Ferrell Birchfield

Dana Ferrell Birchfield joined Nemours in 1990 and serves as the administrator of education services and the director of government relations for the foundation and as a member of the Nemours BrightStart! Community Advisory Council. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in health services administration. She has served many functions at Nemours, including Physician Recruitment, Credentialing, Practice Plan Administration, and Strategic Planning.  

In addition to her work at Nemours, Dana is vice chair of the Early Learning Coalition and is a board member of the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. She serves on the Health Care Strategic Alliance for the Blue Print for Prosperity project. Dana is also a member of and immediate past chair of the Covering Kids Coalition of Florida and past board chair of the Webb Center for Independent Living. She is also a member of the First Coast Coalition for the Uninsured, Florida Hospital Association, Association of Administrators in Academic Pediatrics, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and the Jacksonville Women’s Network. For many years she has been involved with the Duval County Commission on Services for Children with Special Needs. She enjoys her home, her cats, bird hunting and cooking, and is an avid reader.
