Helen D. Jackson, PhD, MPA, MS, RD, LD/N

Dr. Helen Jackson is the director of the Community Nutrition Services Division for the Duval County Health Department. Her specialty has been public administration and nutrition with a strong focus on women, infants, and children. She has been with the Duval County Health Department in Jacksonville, Florida, for 17 years. She was the administrative dietitian at the Northeast Florida State Hospital in MacClenny for three years. Prior to coming to Florida, Dr. Jackson was the WIC director at the Detroit Health Department in Michigan for 13 years.

Dr. Jackson continues to pursue her goal of better health for women. She volunteers on the community board for the American Heart Association, serves on the Duval unit operating board of the American Cancer Society and leads various community efforts, using local resources to educate women on obesity and its effect on health disparities. Dr. Jackson is chair-elect of the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc., the president/CEO of the Women of Color Cultural Foundation, immediate past president of the local chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and a member of the Minority AIDS Coalition.
