Healthy for Life: A Guide for Families

NHPS’s latest publication provides information about Body Mass Index (BMI) and what it can tell you about your child's health; help you decide what actions to take based on the results of your child's BMI; and let you know about the places in your community that offer physical activities, healthy foods, and nutrition counseling.

Designing Your 5-2-1-Almost None Bulletin Board

  • Match up the number with the healthy lifestyle recommendation—for example, display the number "5" next to the text saying "Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day."
  • Download this two-page list of ideas for your board.
  • Read bulletin board tips and get related materials from the Louisiana Department of Education, Division of Nutrition Assistance website.  
  • Download free graphics from NHPS, or from other organizations that promote similar concepts. Use them as a starting point to add interest to your 5-2-1-Almost None bulletin board.

Almost None Sugar Shock Kit

The Almost None Sugar Shock Kit provides a fun and interactive way to show how much sugar is in some popular drinks. It can be used to discuss the difference between healthy and sugary drinks, and the reasons why sugary drinks should be limited.
