Rehabilitation
At Nemours, we provide intensive rehabilitation services for children and adolescents through age 17, designed to return the child to home, school and community. The goal of rehabilitation is to maximize the young person’s ability to move, communicate, interact with people, and live as independently and pain free as possible. This is a program supervised by physicians with special training and certification in the rehabilitation of children. These physicians work with nurses, therapists, social workers and educators within a family and patient-centered philosophy.
Nemours therapists include the specialties of speech and communication, physical, and occupational therapies, and rehabilitation engineering; all have specialization in pediatrics and rehabilitation of children of all ages. Nemours rehabilitation staff use an integrated medical record that unifies patient care across specialties and locations, prompting therapists to consider best practices gained from Nemours experience and academic literature.
Functional goals are developed by the patient’s team, which includes input from the child and family. We provide excellent care that places the patient and family at the center, and our commitment to communication is central to the process. We strive to create a uniquely satisfying experience bringing peace of mind to patients and families.
