Get Involved

There are several ways to get involved with the Family Advisory Council. We appreciate the families who take time out of their already busy schedules to work to improve the overall quality of the care our children receive. Become a Member

If you are interested in serving on the Family Advisory Council, please print a copy of our brochure and complete the application found there.

Applications may also be turned in to the Volunteer Office, located between the gift shop and cafeteria in the main lobby of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

All applicants will be contacted by a current member of the Family Advisory Council, who will guide them through the interview process. The application will be reviewed by the council’s membership committee and the applicant will be notified of their decision.

Serve on a Committee

The Family Advisory Council is organized into five active committees:

• Membership Committee: Maintains the names of families who want to be members of the FAC, either as committee members or potential council members. (Membership on the council is not required to take part in committee activities.)
• Family as Faculty Committee: Recruits and trains family members to help “teach” students, residents, interns, and staff about the children who receive our care.
• Publicity/Public Relations Committee: Develops ways to promote the Family Advisory Council to Nemours patients and their families, as well as to staff and the community.
• Project Committee: Recruits, trains, and maintains names of families who are interested in working on projects and committees within the hospital and Nemours Children’s Clinics.
• Family-to-Family Support Committee: Recruits and trains families who are interested in providing support to other families dealing with a new diagnosis.

Applicants will be contacted by the chairperson of the committee to which they have applied to discuss the committee selection process.
