Surgery

Nemours provides diagnosis and treatment of the surgical conditions of infancy, childhood and adolescence. Expertise exists in several areas, including:

  • The management of head and neck abnormalities;
  • Lesions of the skin and soft tissue;
  • Hernia;
  • Non-cardiac thoracic conditions;
  • Chest wall deformity;
  • Endocrine surgery;
  • Congenital and acquired abnormalities of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • Pediatric tumors;
  • Pyloric stenosis;
  • Undescended testes;
  • Appendicitis;
  • Neonatal surgery;
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques and more.

Staffed by physicians who are board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Nemours surgeons have demonstrated special competence in pediatric surgery. Nemours surgeons are usually trained in multiple specialties—pediatrics and surgery, for example.

Nemours surgeons use an integrated medical record that unifies patient care across specialties and locations, prompting surgeons to consider best practices gained from Nemours experience and academic literature.

Our commitment to communication is key to a successful experience for all involved. By communicating with parents and children in a reassuring, humanistic, non-technical, “nuts and bolts” way, families know what’s going to happen during and after the procedure, thus lessening the wonder and worry. We provide excellent care that places the patient and family at the center. We strive to create a uniquely satisfying experience bringing peace of mind to patients and families.

Nemours locations offer a range of surgical services. Please refer to the sites listed to the left for specific services available at each location.
